Dear Parents and Guardians,
It was a nice return from the February break and hard to believe it is March. The weather this weekend is a reminder that winter is still here. We hope you can join us for a Literacy Night on March 16th. We will have light snacks and games in the cafeteria starting at 5:30. Save the date and more info to follow. This evening will also include our Windsor School Title I presentation.
Here are some current and upcoming community events:
1. The 2nd annual parent-child dance happening on March 18th, 7 PM - 9 PM at the Rec Center. It is free, with optional donations. There will be refreshments and a photo booth.
2. The 2nd Annual Ice Out 50/50 Raffle. Half of the fund goes to sponsor Rotary Interact Club events. Folks can connect with any Rotary member (at the school it's Kim Gogan, Hudson Ranney or Christine Bourne) or purchase the tickets online with the event QR code.

Elementary News
This was an exciting and busy week on the State Street side of the building! Students quickly got back into the swing of things and right down to the hard work in front of them. It was a week of strong engagement and excitement to be back together at school!
Winter did return a little more this week... Unfortunately the timing was such that we couldn't safely get up to the mountain on Thursday. But! The weather looks great for our last scheduled ski day this coming Thursday. Fingers crossed we can hit the slope! The storm tonight should certainly help the AO crew prep the mountain for our visit.
Read Across America Week was a big success! Thank you all for your support of our strong Literacy Program! And a very special thanks also to Amber Bennett for making it all happen with the Windsor Team!

High School News
Social Media Kindness: We all know that students are navigating a world very different from ours. In the past two months there has been a general uptick in anonymous unkind pages on Instagram - these pages post unflattering pictures taken and posted without approval and ask for public ratings of students looks among other things. We are reporting these to Instagram and working on getting social media education in the building. We are always happy for any outside expertise. Teachers and staff are having ongoing conversations around kindness. Given the ease and anonymity around posting, I think students are unaware of the impact the pictures and posting have on individual students. The students are seeing these postings and are hurt. We can do better.
Last call on survey:
We are excited to move forward with our strategic plan as we work to be innovative and guide our students in their learning. In order to do this, we want to make a shift towards a student driven schedule. Meaning instead of saying, here are the classes we have to offer and want to teach please make your choice, we are asking students to be drivers in their own education. We want to hear clearly what works for your learning and your long term and short term goals. For the 2023/2024 school year we plan to make progress in this model. Please see the survey questions below. I look forward to sharing out data and moving forward together in this process. Please reach out with any questions. If your student has not completed this yet, please do so. Here is the survey. Thank you, Kate
